Ever Wonder Why People Do What They Do?

My last few posts have been about how I deal with the stress in my life. As I manage my stress, it helps me to stay focused, both at work and on my writing projects. But at the end of the day, we all need distractions. Reading and writing stories are two of my favorite ways to clear my mind of the stress of the day. Sometimes, the stress comes from other peoples’ actions, and sometimes, it comes from my perceptions of the world around me.

I find myself, especially when the stress comes from others’ actions, trying to understand their motivations. In my experience, everyone has a reason for what they do, good or bad. I used to hear, when I was younger, that everyone did what they did because they believed it was right. That seems right almost all the time, but just like some villains in stories, I think a few people are motivated by other things. Power and wealth are two large motivators. Everyone has a reason for their actions.

In my work in progress , Dissonance, I’ve been having fun writing more details about my characters from the first book. Dissonance, which is a sequel to Resonance, is available for pre-order until September 3, 2021. The story has almost taken on a life of its own as I near the halfway point. Each one of the characters, Wyatt, Brooke, Aldan, Jeremy, and Avery have their motives. They’ve all been thrown into the service of the Machina, a supercomputer whose very existence caused time travel, and if it isn’t controlled, time travel may ruin everything.

I have Resonance scheduled to be free on Amazon Kindle from today, May 28 through May 30, if you want a chance to read it.

Check out some of my other books.

My most recent book, an epic fantasy book, A Map, a Mage, and a Sacrifice, was a fun book to write, and my beta readers say it is the best one I’ve written so far. It is set in a world with limited technology, think of an empire like the Romans, but where sacrifice is a necessary element to magical power. The greater the pain and suffering, the greater the magical power generated.

If you’re interested in time travel stories, check out my science fiction book, Resonance. It’s great to see people reading pages on Kindle Unlimited.

If you’re looking for a science fiction story, try my books The Promise of Dust or Progenitor’s Legacy: Deceit.

If a young adult science fiction is more to your liking, check out my series This New Earth, that starts with Demons of a Dead World and Secrets of a Dead World.

If you are looking for a young adult fantasy, check out my book The Threads Unbound.
