Here I am at the end of another week. The stress levels in my day job have not dropped off, in fact, they have increased with more projects needed. I sometimes wish I could time travel. Not so that I could bypass the stress so much as possibly giving myself more time or chances to complete some of the most stressful and difficult projects. But the stress won’t go away, and I can’t yet time travel, so I write stories about it.
Time travel would be great. Even with the stress increasing in my day job, I’ve still written a lot of words this week. I’m up to almost fifteen thousand since Monday. That isn’t the amount I had hoped to accomplish, but I’m writing my next book, Dissonance, which is a sequel to Resonance. The books deal with time travel, but differently. In the world of Resonance, the supercomputer designed to predict and prepare for recovery after natural disasters, the Machina, inadvertently unlocked the ability to travel through time.
Time travel is dangerous, however, because the more people who travel, the more things could change. If time travel gets out, the entire world could fall apart. Resonance is the beginning of that struggle for Wyatt Barnett, but in Dissonance, it gets worse. Due to Wyatt’s success in stopping the spread of time travel, it appears someone has targeted him and is systematically working to change his past.
Dissonance is available for pre-order on Amazon Kindle until September 3, 2021.

My most recent book, an epic fantasy book, A Map, a Mage, and a Sacrifice, was a fun book to write, and my beta readers say it is the best one I’ve written so far. It is set in a world with limited technology, think of an empire like the Romans, but where sacrifice is a necessary element to magical power. The greater the pain and suffering, the greater the magical power generated.
