This has been another extremely busy week for me in my day job. While the stress is still there, I have still found time to write my book. I’m just past 50,000 words, so not quite half way through my draft of my work in progress, Dissonance.
As I have been working on that book, I find I have the most fun when I put my characters in situations that make me really have to study out how they get through it. Everyone likes to read stories where the characters work to overcome the struggles they face. Sometimes, the bigger, the better. As I go throughout my day, I like to watch the way people interact around me.
In the midst of all the normal stress this week, and for the last several weeks, I have tried to notice those people I come in contact with. It might be a simple smile, a wave, or a “hello.” By doing that, I’ve seen a lot of cool responses. Some people don’t respond, and that is okay. Everyone has their perception of the world around them. That’s what I like about writing stories. I can focus on what I think would drive people to act in certain ways.
I think people are awesome in their own ways. We’re all different, and that makes stories fun to read.
My work in progress, Dissonance, which is a sequel to Resonance, is available for pre-order until September 3, 2021. I like the characters. Each one of them, Wyatt, Brooke, Aldan, Jeremy, and Avery have their motives. One of them may be the one behind the changes in the timestream.
Check out some of my other books.
My most recent book, an epic fantasy book, A Map, a Mage, and a Sacrifice, was a fun book to write, and my beta readers say it is the best one I’ve written so far. It is set in a world with limited technology, think of an empire like the Romans, but where sacrifice is a necessary element to magical power. The greater the pain and suffering, the greater the magical power generated.
If you’re interested in time travel stories, check out my science fiction book, Resonance. It’s great to see people reading pages on Kindle Unlimited.
If you’re looking for a science fiction story, try my books The Promise of Dust or Progenitor’s Legacy: Deceit.
If a young adult science fiction is more to your liking, check out my series This New Earth, that starts with Demons of a Dead World and Secrets of a Dead World.
If you are looking for a young adult fantasy, check out my book The Threads Unbound.
It is interesting to watch people and when we do those simple things like saying ‘hi’, smiling, holding a door, etc most people will be positively effected by that. Keep it up, you never know when you might be the one to make someones day a little brighter.
I appreciate your thoughts and food for thought that you share in your blogs.
