We All Need a Vacation, or an Escape

This week, my post is later than usual. I’ve been on vacation from my day job this week and it has been great. Getting away from my day job, and its stress has helped. Sometimes, physically getting away from my day job stress helps. I’ve spent part of the week getting together with extended family I haven’t seen in a couple of years. That adds its own kind of stress, but it is nowhere near the stress of my day job.

It’s like diving into a good book or story. The escape is almost the same, except I can’t take time off from my day job as often. Speaking with one of my relatives, who has been focused on the work for a graduate degree for years, he mentioned he just started finding time to get back into reading fiction. He’s started to see the way a good story can pull him out of his daily stresses.

Sometimes, we all need a chance to step away for a bit. Due to my day job, I don’t take many days off. Taking a week off from my day job was tough, but I’m glad I did. The vacation was a great escape. I was able to bring along my current work in progress, Dissonance. It will have it ready for my beta readers by the end of June. It is a sequel to Resonance, and is available for pre-order on Amazon Kindle until September 3, 2021.

Check out some of my other books, which are available on Amazon Kindle and paperback.

My most recent book, an epic fantasy titled, A Map, a Mage, and a Sacrifice, was a fun book to write, and my beta readers say it is the best one I’ve written so far. It is set in a world with limited technology, think of an empire like the Romans, but where sacrifice is a necessary element to magical power. The greater the pain and suffering, the greater the magical power generated.

If you’re looking for a science fiction story, try my books The Promise of Dust or Progenitor’s Legacy: Deceit.

If a young adult science fiction is more to your liking, check out my series This New Earth, that starts with Demons of a Dead World and Secrets of a Dead World.

If you are looking for a young adult fantasy, check out my book The Threads Unbound.
