Amid all the other challenges this week, I’ve been thinking a bit about patience. So many tasks from my full time job have pulled at me, that I haven’t written as many pages as I hoped. I have still written every day this week. Writing a book takes patience just like most other things in life. But unlike life, I can rewrite chapters and sections of my stories if they don’t work out. That isn’t possible in life. In life we don’t often get the chance to do it again.
Patience is a key, in my mind to accomplishing anything. Whether writing a book or working with other people or dealing with frustrating, stressful situations, a little patience helps. I’ve seen that a lot in my day job as I work with people who may not see things the way I do. Sometimes, if I take a few minutes to step back, try to understand the situation better, I’m able to approach it differently and more calmly. That takes patience.
In this post-COVID era, a little patience can make life more bearable.
Speaking of patience, my current work in progress, Dissonance, is coming along well, but taking me a little longer to write than I thought. I will have it ready for my beta readers by the end of June. It is a sequel to Resonance, and is available for pre-order on Amazon Kindle until September 3, 2021. I think time travel is fun to write about, but I really like the characters I created. I’ve still had Kindle pages read each day and purchases of Resonance. I think that is awesome. It’s performing well so far.
I still enjoy writing stories and reading stories. Check out some of my other books, which are available on Amazon Kindle and paperback.
My most recent book, an epic fantasy titled, A Map, a Mage, and a Sacrifice, was a fun book to write, and my beta readers say it is the best one I’ve written so far. It is set in a world with limited technology, think of an empire like the Romans, but where sacrifice is a necessary element to magical power. The greater the pain and suffering, the greater the magical power generated.
If you’re looking for a science fiction story, try my books The Promise of Dust or Progenitor’s Legacy: Deceit.
If a young adult science fiction is more to your liking, check out my series This New Earth, that starts with Demons of a Dead World and Secrets of a Dead World.
